Our Origin
The mission of North Shore Dance Scottish is to spread the joy of Scottish Country dancing with its focus on fun, fitness and friendship to adults of all ages and backgrounds.
North Shore Dance Scottish was formed with the merger of the two north shore Scottish Country Dance clubs --
Gleneagles Scottish Dance Club and Deep Cove Scottish Dance Club..
The formal amalgamation of Gleneagles and Deep Cove took place on May 15, 2024.
Gleneagles
Founded in 1962, Gleneagles Scottish Country Dance Club started as a small group of friends who shared a passion for dance. From its humble beginnings it grew into a wonderful dance community.
Over its 62 years we have had many exemplary teachers. The full history of Gleneagles can be found and downloaded in the History section.
An annual Gleneagles Ball was held for 57 years. A 50th celebration of the Gleneagles Ball can also be found there.
Deep Cove
Dorothy Hargreaves started the club in Deep Cove in 1986. She continues to be active in the Club and planned our 30th Anniversary celebrations in 2016.
To mark the occasion, the members of the Deep Cove SCD Club published a book of dances devised by our founding teacher. Dorothy has created jigs, reels and strathspeys to interest everyone from beginners to advanced. The book is now available for purchase. Cost is $12.
